About the Artist

My name is Laurel Knapik-Blaisure and I am a metalsmith by trade and run Spira Noctem Studios. I specializes in metal fabrication, sawing, piercing, stone setting, and lost wax casting. Silver is by far my favorite metal to work with. My jewelry is often alternative, inspired by both the natural world and the man-made. I draw inspiration from old fairy tales, legends, and fantastical stories.

My interest in jewelry began as a young child. A particularly creative child, I enjoyed making accessories for my dolls, which led me into making jewelry for my mother.

As an adult, I took metalsmithing and leatherworking courses during my time at university. It was there I discovered metalwork was my true passion. I studied under Errol Wilson, for five years, who is a certified master Goldsmith specializing in the ancient art of Lost Wax Casting.

I spends most of my time in my studio designing and creating. In my free time I take workshops and classes to learn or improve my techniques. I am passionate about improving and honing my craft.
